Cons:

- Lack of Advanced Features: The machine may lack certain advanced features that are available in more expensive models, such as an automatic thread cutter or a free arm for sewing cylindrical items. However, it still provides ample functionality for most basic sewing needs.
- Manual Discrepancies: Some users have reported discrepancies between the manual and the machine’s actual settings. This may require some experimentation and adjustment to find the optimal settings for specific stitches and fabrics.
- Noise and Vibration: As with many sergers, the S0100 may produce some noise and vibration during operation, particularly at higher sewing speeds. This may be a consideration for users who prefer quieter sewing environments.

In the process of testing the Singer S0100 overlock machine, our editors at RDCarTech found that users are often interested in the following questions:
Does this serger use needles type #2022 (ELX705)?
According to the user manual, YES…
Where can I find the needles for the Singer S0100 overlock machine?
A Google search for Style 2022 needles will reveal other websites where you can purchase these needles. This machine takes size: #14/90. Also, ELX705 needles are the same as style 2022 needles.
Does this serger have any easy threading features?
No. Threading is done manually but there are tons of videos out there on threading this serger. Just like any new machine, there is a learning curve. At first, it used to take me 15 min to thread it, now I am done in less than 5 minutes. It is an excellent machine and I don’t know how I made it without it.
Is the “Stitch Table” referring to a single layer of fabric? If so, how should the tension be adjusted to accommodate 2 layers of fabric?
The tension settings shown in the “Stitch Table” would be set for 2 layers of medium-weight woven fabrics in most instances. The 2 thread stitch patterns are likely for one layer of fabric as they are for rolled hems or to clean finish the edge of a fabric.
Does it work well with heavy fabrics such as fleece, knits, and wool?
Yes, it does. You only have to sew slowly and you need to be patient.
Are there other presser feet available? Do the presser feet from any other model fit the S0100?
I have only used 1, I have not used even the ones that come in the package, I could not tell you if any other model would remain.
Does this serger make the cover stitch that is used on T-shirts?
With this serger, you can achieve a similar look to the stitch used for t-shirts. Fold the hem of the t-shirt as if doing a blind hem, only that the raw edge is in line with the underneath fold.
When surging ensure that the loops fall on the outside of the material. Your machine’s settings should be as below, but you can play around with it and see what works for you in the end.
This is the recipe:
– NO tension in the needle
– Do not use the blade.
– 3 thread overlock (but you can use 2 threads to save thread)
– Left or right needle
– Stitch length between 2 and 4
– Upper looper 5
– Lower looper 6 When finished serging, simply open the fold.
You should have the loops on the back (wrong side of the material) encasing the raw edge and the ladder stitches on the front (right side of the material).
When using the 2-thread overlock converter, am I supposed to unthread the upper looper? or leave the thread in?
The upper looper must be unthreaded for the 2-thread converter to fit properly into the upper looper of the Singer model S0100 Serger.
